KEI TRUCK RENTALS

VANCOUVER ISLAND

Small Van

Big Adventure.

Adventure awaits in VANcouver Island!

Exploring in a custom Kei truck campervan is (in our opinion) the best way to experience Vancouver Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands.

Easy to manoeuvre and with excellent visuals, in our vans there’s no worrying about devilishly deceiving blind spots, heavy trailers, or tight parking spaces. Yey!

They are miniature gems stuffed to the brim with everything you need to touch the wild heart of Canada’s west coast.

Holiday in quirky, cosy, style and book your next unforgettable journey today!

Say hello to Tanuki

  • Hi, I’m Tanuki and I am a Kei truck. A Kei truck is a small Japanese truck that is reliable, practical, and fuel efficient.

    Specifically, I’m a 2007 Diahatsu Hijet with:

    • A 3 cylinder 660cc engine.

    • Automatic transmission

    • Rear wheel drive.

    • Right hand drive (my steering wheel is on the right.)

  • I’m perfect for zipping through inner city traffic (and fitting into tight parking spaces!), but I also love riding the island’s windy coast roads on the hunt for amazing beaches.

Although I have a smaller engine than most vehicles you’ll find on the island, I can still cruise at 100-110km, which is higher than most of the speed limits here. Plus, it doesn’t cost a lot to fill me with gas.

I’m in my element on paved or light gravel roads, but forestry roads are not for me. If something were to happen I can’t be rescued.

  • Tanuki is fully equipped for camping excursions, including:

    • A pull out kitchen with two ring gas burner

    • Firewood for campfires (season dependant)

    • An awning

    • Pots, pans and cooking equipment

    • Plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery including wine glasses

    • Foldable mattress with bedding included.

    • 2 towels and some basic toiletries.

    • 2 fold out camping chairs

    • 2 paddle boards

    • First aid kit

Say hello to Dommy

  • Hi! I’m Dommy and I’m a Kei car. More specially, a Subaru Domingo.

Originally I was a seven (!) seater, but these days I’m set up for couples and solo travellers.

    I’m made up of:

    • A 3 cylinder 1189cc engine

    • 4WD

    • Automatic transmission

    • Right-hand drive

I’m a vintage model and the first in the fleet to be converted to a campervan, making me one of a kind!

  • I’m also perfect for zipping through inner city traffic, and with my four wheel drive I’m great at getting to those harder to reach trail heads.

As I’m a bit older, I like a lower cruising speed of 90-100km. I’m at my best when I’m tootling along taking in the sights. If it’s a hot day you can open up my sunroof and if it’s a clear night you can lie awake and gaze up at the stars.

  • Dommy is fully equipped for camping excursions, including:

    • A pull out kitchen with two ring gas burner

    • Firewood for campfires (season dependant)

    • An awning

    • Pots, pans and cooking equipment

    • Plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery including wine glasses

    • Foldable mattress with bedding included.

    • 2 fold out camping chairs

    • 2 paddle boards

    • First aid kit
